Presentation 6: European gaming resorts: Case of SloveniaSolely economic view over the relation between costs and benefits of tourist industry nowadays no longer suffice. The author will make an attempt to put forward some examples and possibilities of responsible behavior of gaming industry. Gaming activities have been, since its beginnings, subject to many prejudices in major part of population where they appeared. Gaming still has in many societies a slightly negative sound even though it is nowadays in majority of countries subjected to law and market economy. This occurs due to its alleged nature of generating gaming related problems one call addiction and others give it other names. This paper offers contemplation on how gaming operators can have socially responsible behavior. Some cases from Slovenia and Goriška region will be introduced where gambling companies started to implement responsible measures and practices.

Presentation 7: Formation of Developmental Coalitions for Gambling-related Investment StrategiesGambling-related investment plans are often met with resistance and conflicts from the local and regional communities, mainly due to poor knowledge and prejudice about gambling industry, its positive consequences and social costs. It is therefore very important that such investment projects are backed up by active strategic processes, in which all relevant stakeholders can take part. In this presentation I will present adaptive methodology for formation of coalitions between the gambling sector and other stakeholders. I will show on the case of Slovenia how a major gambling investment failed to materialize as a consequence of exclusion of relevant stakeholders form decision-making process.
